Smiths Court Hotel 01843 222310    Margate, Kent.

Just 17 miles from Canterbury, Smiths Court – set on the clifftop to the east of Margate – is privately owned and family run and, the only three star hotel, is Margate’s premier hotel.
This ‘ elegant Victorian’ has all the modern conveniences expected by the discerning traveller, but retains a quintessentially English charm. Offering a quiet attentive service to business and leisure guests, it’s an ideal retreat after a long day exploring Kent’s history, our amazing blue flag beaches, or indeed after a busy day at the office! There’s information about our 43 individually decorated rooms and suites – some enjoying superb sea views and spectacular ‘Turner’ sunsets.

Food and Drink

The Orangery at Smiths Court 01843 222310    Margate, Kent.

Once the preserve of the wealthy and the aristocracy in their country houses, The Orangery has had a 21st century makeover. With its soaring 12 foot windows and polished marble floor, The Orangery at Smiths Court was designed by Andrew Sherrington to complete and complement the 'elegant Victorian' it adjoins. Unlike those of previous centuries, however, ours has under floor heating, disabled access, ample car parking – and views across the Thames Estuary, with "the most beautiful skies in all Europe" according to J.M.W.Turner!

Put all this aside, however, because the most important thing about a restaurant is the food that is cooked, and the way it is served – and in both these, we excel!
