The Northern Ramparts stand at the highest point of
Fort Corblets. The gun silent within the perimeter
wall, grassed over and now providing an
uninterrupted and elevated viewing point of the
English Channel. The rooms are built on this once
strategic position. The place cannot be described as
conventional. The Outlook Room, with two beds,
provides spectacular and panoramic views of the
Channel and Corblets Bay which stretches below
inviting swimmers and sunbathers in Summer months;
walkers and bird watchers in the rugged Winter
season.
The Outlook Room faces west, thus enjoying the
evening sunsets. The other double bedroom faces
east, its little patio being a perfect place to view
the sunrise, or a rising full moon. In between these
two sleeping areas is a very large drawing/dining
room. A Steinway baby grand piano is diminished by
the high wooden ceilings that offset the walls of
natural stone. The kitchen is small but well
equipped and the bathroom is comfortable and light.
The Northern Ramparts are unique, a world of their
own to be enjoyed for their own sake and not to be
compared to more conventional accommodation. |
